The school service commission has, in compliance with a directive of the Supreme Court, uploaded the names and roll numbers of 907 candidates who wrote the selection test for the appointment of teachers at the higher secondary level in 2016.
These are the cases where the CBI is said to have detected an alleged manipulation of marks.
Of the 907, as many as 691 were finally empanelled and 138 candidates were waitlisted, the CBI had earlier told Calcutta High Court.
The apex court had also asked the commission to submit printouts of OMR sheets of all 5,500 candidates whose names feature on the final merit list, modifying an order of Calcutta High Court.
On July 19, a division bench of Calcutta High Court asked the commission to upload on its website OMR sheets of the candidates who wrote the state-level selection test in 2016 and are working as assistant teachers in government-aided higher secondary schools, upholding an order by Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay of the same court.
The apex court issued a direction to the SSC after a section of in-service teachers approached the court challenging the July 19 order.
A notice on Wednesday, signed by the SSC secretary, says: “In compliance with the direction of… Supreme Court, dated 25.07.2023, the details of 907 candidates in connection with 1st state level selection test for the posts of assistant teachers (except Hill Region), for Classes XI–XII, 2016, has been published on the website of the commission.”
SSC chairperson Siddhartha Majumder told Metro: “We will soon submit details of the 5,500 candidates whose names feature on the final merit list before the Supreme Court following the July 25 directive.”
