Bose also announced a year-round calendar of activities to mark the jubilee year. “We will host a marathon in September in which runners from across the world will participate. It will start from Sreebhumi. We will take a call later whether to do a full or a half marathon,” he said.
A month after Durga puja, a Bijoya sammelani will be held featuring top artistes of Kolkata and Mumbai.
Bose unveiled the logo of the club in presence of deputy commissioner, Bidhannagar, Jyotirmoy Roy. The logo has been designed by Subrata Gangopadhyay but the artist could not attend the programme due to ill health.
Idol-maker Pradip Rudra Pal, a resident of BJ Block, was present and was greeted on stage. “This is also the 50th year of Balaka club. Though Pradip rarely takes Kali puja orders, I have convinced him to make their Kali idol too this year,” Bose said.
