Spot evaluation of diploma in elementary education scripts

46,000 students wrote the theory papers of the DElEd exams from November 28 to November 30

The West Bengal Board of Primary Education has decided to hold spot evaluation of the answer scripts of examinations for the diploma in elementary education (DElEd), under the watch of the primary education board, to ensure transparency, said an official of the board.

During spot evaluation, all examiners gather at a specified venue to assess the answer scripts.

Earlier, answer scripts from a district would be sent to the homes of the examiners living in that district for evaluation.

Partha Karmakar, deputy secretary (academic) of the board, said: “We are introducing spot evaluation, to be conducted under the watch of the board, to ensure transparency in the process. This will lead to faster publication of results as well.”

About 46,000 students wrote the theory papers of the DElEd exams from November 28 to November 30.

A diploma in elementary education is a 2-year diploma course focused on primary teachers’ training.

A board official who did not wish to be named said they had received complaints of favouritism in evaluation under the system that existed till last year
