‘Shooter’ in Barrackpore murder identified

The other man, a nephew of the alleged shooter, had provided all the logistic support for the operation

One of the two men arrested in connection with the shooting in a jewellery store in Barrackporehad pulled the trigger, police said.

The other man, a nephew of the alleged shooter, had provided all the logistic support for the operation, the police said.

Mohammad Jamshed Ansari, 31, has been identified as the uncle, and Safi Khan, 25, as his nephew.

The police suspect at least three other men were involved in the crime.

“Ansari was one of the four men who had entered the store, Singha Jewellery House, on Wednesday. He opened fire.His nephew Safi had provided all the logistic support to the gang,” said an officer of the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate.

Niladri Singha, son of the owner of the store, was fatally injured in the firing. The owner, Nilratan Singha, and an employee were injured.
