The school education department has told all schools to take measures for the prevention of Dengue in view of the rising number of cases.
A meeting of a task force across districts has been fixed on September 13 to take stock of the situation and chalk out an extensive strategy for the prevention of dengue in schools, said an official.
The meeting would be attended by district inspectors of schools of primary and secondary sections along with personnel from the office of the chief medical officers of health.
“A detailed guideline will be issued after the meeting,” said a department official.
School heads have been told that morning assembly should include a speech on dengue awareness and prevention.
They have also been advised to encourage the students to keep their own household environment clean.
An official of the department said the advisory has been sent in pursuance to a meeting of a core group on the prevention and management of dengue headed by the state chief secretary.
“Close monitoring is essential for the prevention of dengue... An advisory has been issued to the heads of institutions,” said the official.
Supriya Panja, head of the Park Institution in Shyambzar, said they were telling the students to use mosquito nets and consult a doctor if they had fever.
