Ingredients

  • Chicken stock- 1 cup
  • Plain curd- one tsp
  • Boiled beetroot water- one drop

Method

  • While preparing chicken for your dog’s staple meals, keep aside some stock.
  • Pour the stock into paper cups or containers that your dog can eat out of later.
  • Freeze the stock in the freezer.
  • Once frozen, apply plain curd on top as garnish.
  • In case you want to add a dash of flavour, dip a drop of boiled beetroot water to the curd. The white curd will turn an attractive shade of purple.
  • Alternatively, you can replace the chicken stock in this dish with watermelon juice.

Energy balls

Ingredients

  • Oats- 100g
  • Dry coconut powder- 50g
  • Peanut butter- 100g
  • Honey- 80g

Method

  • Blend the oats in a mixer till it becomes a powder.
  • Add the coconut powder, honey and peanut butter gradually so it can be rolled into a ball shape.
  • The energy balls are now ready to serve. However, keep them refrigerated so your dog can enjoy them for several days.

Doggie biscuits

Ingredients

  • Oats- 100g
  • Pumpkin puree- 50g
  • Peanut butter- 20g

Method

  • Pre-heat your oven for 20 minutes at 180°C.
  • Meanwhile mix all the ingredients.
  • The mixture will take the form of a thick dough. Pour this into mould shapes such as bones, stars and Christmas trees. If you do not have moulds, shape them into random shapes with your hands.
  • Once the oven has heated up suitably, bake for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • The biscuits can be preserved in the fridge for 10 to 15 days.

Chicken jerky

Ingredients

  • Chicken breast- (take the quantity you think will be appropriate for your dog. From one breast piece a maximum of five jerkeys can be made)
  • Cinnamon powder- a pinch
  • Olive oil- a dash

Method

  • Preheat oven for 10 minutes at 180°C.
  • Cut the chicken breasts into thin strips.
  • Add the cinnamon powder and olive oil.
  • Lay out the strips on a baking try and bake for an hour.
  • Remove from the oven. The strips will have shrunk in size but they are likely to still be raw. Bake again. Once ready, the strips will become crispy.
  • Store in an air-tight container and serve your pet these crunchy strips as treats.
