Police have arrested 16 persons, including 10 women, for allegedly duping hundreds of job aspirants by promising them high-paying jobs against payment.

A police team conducted a raid on the office of Ivan Achievers Private Limited in Sector V on Friday on the basis of a complaint lodged by a job seeker earlier this month.

Habibur Rehman, who had allegedly rented out the office space and used to run the company, was picked up during the raid.

“The men and women who have been arrested were trained on how to track job websites and access the resumes submitted there. With the help of the resumes the employees would connect with the job seeker posing as officials of placement agencies and tell them about various openings,” said the officer.

The employees would then ask the job seekers to pay them to get placement in top companies.

“They would ask for anything between Rs 10,000 and Rs 50,000, depending on the post on offer,” said an officer.
