He had won hearts on his 99th birthday by donating Rs 90,000 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to fight Covid

Mihir Kumar Chatterjee, who may have been Salt Lake’s senior-most resident at 100 years and six months, died on December 6. The EC Block resident, who was a former PWD housing commissioner, was born in Bankura on June 5, 1921. For his birthday this year, well-wishers had celebrated online and offline for three consecutive days, as reported in The Telegraph Salt Lake on June 11.

He had also won hearts on his 99th birthday by donating Rs 90,000 to the chief minister’s relief fund to fight Covid.

Chatterjee was admitted to a Sector III hospital on December 6 and succumbed to multi-organ failure the same day. He lived with his attendants. His son, who lives in Delhi, flew in for the last rites.
