A timeline of the 96-hour journey of the 22641 Thiruvananthapuram Central-Shalimar SF Express between October 28 and November 1. The trip was short-terminated at Santragachhi 53 hours behind the scheduled time of arrival at Shalimar station. The timeline has been compiled on the basis of conversations with passengers

  • October 28, 4.55pm: The train leaves Thiruvananthapuram
  • October 29, 4.45pm: Reaches Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, on time
  • October 29, 7.10pm: Reaches Rajamundry in Andhra Pradesh, also on time (10 minutes after the accident at Vizianagaram, around 240km away)
  • October 29, 8.15pm: Arrives at Narsipatnam Road station, around 70km from Visakhapatnam.
  • October 30, 2.45am: Stranded for six hours at Narsipatnam Road station. Then the detour starts. The train leaves the station to return to Vijayawada.
  • October 30, 11am: Reaches Vijayawada again
  • October 30, 11.45pm: Reaches Nagpur in Maharashtra
  • October 31, 8pm: Reaches Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh
  • November 1, 8am: Reaches Tatanagar in Jharkhand
  • November 1, 1pm: Reaches Kharagpur
  • November 1, 4.50pm:Ends the journey at Santragachhi, 53 hours behind schedule
