Residents of Cluster IX in Purbachal were a happy lot. Their polling booth this time was their community centre where their pujas take place.
“There were three polling booths that we had to accommodate in temporary structures in the last election. This time we could shift one of them to a permanent structure,” said a senior official associated with polling arrangements.
“We offered our community centre. This way, we are not even having to step out of our compound. People from our two bordering clusters, X and XI, are also coming here,” said Beas Kar Majumdar, who stays in F Block.
While her mother and elder sister were taking turns as Forward Bloc agents in the booth, she, being a familiar face, was being asked by several “neighbourhood uncles and aunties” to check their serial numbers.
