IMD has forecast gradual rise in temperatures by 2-3ºC over next three days

Light to moderate rain is expected in Kolkata, South Parganas, Purba Medinipur and Paschim Medinipur districts on Monday.

The meteorological department has attributed the rain in the state to strong winds over the Bay of Bengal accompanied by western disturbances.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated or scattered light to moderate rainfall over sub-Himalayan West Bengal during the next five days and isolated light to moderate rainfall over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha on February 20 and 21.

The maximum and minimum temperatures in Kolkata and its neighbourhood recorded by IMD on Thurday were 27.1ºC, a departure of minus three degrees from normal, and 16.5ºC, a departure of minus two degrees from normal, respectively. A mainly clear sky has been forecast. The maximum and minimu temperatures would hover around 28ºC and 17ºC, respectively.

Further, the IMD has forecast gradual rise in temperatures by 2-3ºC over Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal, which includes Kolkata, during the next three days.
