The first day of a pre-counselling session for online admission to engineering and technical colleges was held at Netaji Indoor Stadium on Wednesday.
Organised by the Association of Professional Academic Institutions, West Bengal, the three-day fair is being held in hybrid mode this year, enabling students to attend sessions physically as well as virtually.
West Bengal urban development minister Firhad Hakim inaugurated the fair. Speaking at the inauguration, state minister for industries, commerce and enterprise Sashi Panja said, “West Bengal has always focused on quality education. Such initiatives will help educate more and more young people about newer courses and career choices.”
Fewer Metro trains
On the occasion of Janmashtami, Metro Railway will run 234 trains on Friday instead of the usual weekday count of 288, according to the carrier.
The timings of the first and last trains will remain unchanged. The official handle of Metro Railway also made the announcement on Facebook.
