Postal department launches pension scheme and Sukanya Samriddi drive

The digital platform offers a range of banking services like the Digital Life Certificate (DLC) for pensioners, virtual RuPay debit card, Aadhaar Enabled Payment Service (AEPS)

The India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), a fully digital and transaction-enabled service under the Department of Post, launched a guaranteed pension scheme and an accident insurance coverage in its West Bengal circle on Friday.

Both plans have been introduced in collaboration with other companies.

At a press conference in Kolkata, J. Charukesi, the chief postmaster general of the West Bengal circle, India Post, announced this. She said a Sukanya Samriddi account opening drive would be undertaken by the West Bengal circle from August 22 to 30.

IPPB already offers a range of banking services like the Digital Life Certificate (DLC) for pensioners, virtual RuPay debit card, Aadhaar Enabled Payment Service (AEPS) through which upto Rs 10,000 can be withdrawn daily from the customer’s Aadhaar-linked bank account.

Highlighting IPPB’s doorstep banking services, Charukesi said the special service, which is available in every district in the country, enabled customers to make offline transactions from home.

Charukesi also said the department had been able to realise the doorstep banking service because of its huge network and manpower at the disposal of India Post.
