A complaint has been filed on Wednesday with the State Election Commission about hoardings of a BJP candidate being vandalised.

The matter came to light when Umashankar Ghoshdastidar, BJP candidate in Ward 30, was campaigning in Baisakhi Abasan on Wednesday morning. He spotted the hoardings in a garbage vat inside the housing complex in AG Block.

Ghoshdastidar said these hoardings had gone missing from the walls of the complex. “Our party workers had put them up on Tuesday. Somebody had taken them off the walls and dumped them here. The same is the case with my publicity material which had been put up near Baisakhi market. They too were lying torn on the road divider. We put them up again in the state they were in.”

The BJ Block residents’ body president is contesting from a neighbouring ward as his own ward is reserved for women. “I have contested twice from my own ward. No one had dared to touch my publicity material there,” he said. The BJP had led by 344 votes here in the 2021 Assembly election.
