On Saturday, the police said they had found another dagger and a baseball batfrom under the floormat of his car. “Amin has been moving around in his car with a ‘police’ sticker for at least the last six months,” said a senior officer of Kalighat police station where he was interrogated following his arrest on Friday afternoon.

The chief minister had not left for the July 21 Martyrs’ Day rally when a team of officers intercepted Amin.

“It appears that Amin wanted to avoid paying tax at tolls while driving around in his car,” the officer said.

Two identity cards — one saying Border Security Force and another All India Police (IB) — were also found on him, the police said.

The police said Amin’s wife had told them that her husband used to visit a doctor at regular intervals. “We will talk to the physician,” the officer said.

At Martinpara in Anandapur off EM Bypass, Amin has an interior decoration business.

An officer said they have learnt that Amin had a woman as his business partner and they would be questioning her as well.
