A group of parents whose children study in Classes X and XII of St Augustine’s Day School Kolkata staged an agitation in front of the school on Thursday morning after they found out that their children were yet to be registered for the 2024 board exams.
The school under the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has a total of 237 students in Classes X and XII.
“My son is in Class X but he is yet to be registered with the CISCE. We fear he may lose out on a year,” said a mother.
Later in the day, officers of Park Street police convened a meeting between the school management and the parents.
“The school has assured us that they will speak to the board so that our children can appear for the board exams,” said one guardian.
“The principal has assured the parents that he will get them registered for the board exams,” a police officer said.
Principals of several other schools said that students get registered in Class IX and XI to appear for the board exams.
“The CISCE had asked us to shift from Ripon Street premises because it was in a dilapidated state. We have shifted to AJC Bose Road address and submitted documents to CISCE in this regard,” said Richard Gasper, the principal.
“The affiliation is currently deactivated. But we have submitted papers and it will be renewed soon,” said a school official.
The Telegraph could not verify the affiliation status of the school with the CISCE.
