Loreto Convent Entally is introducing a pre-nursery class from the next academic session and will admit children at the age of three.
The school was so far admitting children only at the age of four-plus for nursery and will be the first Loreto school in the city to make this change.
The school that was established in 1843 will start with a small number in pre-nursery.
Given the pandemic and a situation in which schools have not yet fully started classes for below IX, the school has decided on one section only.
Admission to nursery at the age of four-plus will continue.
“We have been admitting children at four-plus and we felt the need to get them earlier because by the time they come to us in nursery, they have already done a lot of learning which is not age-appropriate and teachers have to spend time undoing that. Learning development has to be according to the age of the child and we have a system in place to ensure that,” said Jessica Gomes Surana, the principal of the school.
The online application for pre-nursery will start from Wednesday.
