Mary Kom flagged off Ekal Run organised by Ekal Yuva, the youth wing of Friends of Tribals, at Godrej Waterside, Kolkata, on January 8.
The flagship event of Ekal Yuva, an organisation dedicated towards the uplift of underprivileged rural children, attracted over 3,500 participants who took part in various categories of the run.

Elaborating on the initiative, Gaurav Bagla, president, Ekal Yuva, said, “Completing a run is a great achievement for anybody. However, the possibility of changing somebody’s life with every step you take in your run can give you a sense of pride like nothing else. This makes Ekal Run special. The run included T-shirts, medals, goodie bags and food boxes. Winners and runners-up were awarded mementos. The event was streamed live on the YouTube channel (FTSBharat) of the organisation.”
