St Xavier’s University, New Town, will call students of all classes, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in a staggered manner from January 3 for in-person classes.

Most of the state-aided colleges and universities that started physical classes from November 16 have yet to call the first-year undergraduate students because many of them have not taken the first dose for being below 18 years.

Father Felix Raj, the vice-chancellor of the university, said over 90 per cent of their students have taken both doses, undergraduate and postgraduate put together.

“If there are students who have not taken a single dose because of their age, they can come with negative RT-PCR reports. For undergraduate students, classes will be held on-campus for two days a week and in online mode for the remaining days,” he said.

All postgraduate students, including MBA, will attend offline classes from Monday to Friday.

An official said they are calling students in the first-year with negative RT-PCR report, considering that many of them are encountering trouble in attending online classes following resource constraints and unstable networks.

Father Felix Raj said since the volume of students is more at the undergraduate level, they will attend classes twice a week in turns maintaining distancing norms.

Large classrooms with adequately spaced seating arrangements are assigned for on-campus class. Separate isolation facility is available within the campus for any medical emergency.

Detailed class schedules will be shared later by the respective office of the Dean.
