A north Kolkata resident, in his 60s, who met a woman on a dating app was drugged and robbed in a hotel room on Sarat Bose Road where he went to meet her earlier this week.
Two women in their 20s have been arrested in connection with this case.
The complainant told police that he met a woman through an online dating app and went to meet her at a hotel on Sarat Bose Road.
“On reaching the hotel he found that there were two women. They offered him food, consuming which he passed out. When he regained consciousness after a few hours, the women were gone. They robbed him of his gold chain and his silver bracelet,” said an officer of Ballygunge police station.
During investigation, the police found that the women had deliberately switched off their cell phones an hour before the meeting.
They even deleted the chats on the phone.
“They were careful enough not to book any app cab from the hotel. Instead, they took a taxi and went to Sealdah station where they mixed with the crowd,” said the officer.
The sim card they were using was found to be issued against fake documents, the police said.
After extensive CCTV footage analysis and by tracking imprints through the dating app, the police zeroed in on one of the women. She revealed the details of her accomplice.
The two were identified as Ankita Guha and Mamoni Chakraborty.
The stolen articles have been recovered.
