The complaint lodged by Shiekh Manab’s mother with Topsia police station says he was last seen in front of their home at the Park Circus railway colony on Sunday. The child lived there with his mother and elder brother.

The family alleged foul play after his body was found floating in the water body on Tuesday night.

“ The preliminary post-mortem opinion shared with us says the child drowned and died. We are yet to get the final post-mortem report,” an officer of Topsia police station said.

A case of unnatural death has been registered at the police station.

The police said they had learned during investigation that Manab’s mother was bringing him and his older brother up single-handedly without any financial support from their father.
