NGO helps children hospital in Park Circus

The NGO painted the cancer ward walls with bright colours and gave toys that children admitted at the ward can play with

A high-end ventilator, a baby warmer and a C-pap machine were handed over to the Institute of Child Health on Wednesday by the NGO Save the Children.

Prabhas Prasun Giri, a doctor at the hospital, said that C-pap, ventilator are always useful to provide better services in an ICU set up. “We have 20 beds in the cancer ward. Eighty per cent of this is always full,” said Giri. He added that any number of additional ventilator and C-pap is always welcome. “These are equipment that help in case of respirator distress,” he said.

The NGO also decorated the cancer ward of the hospital. It painted the walls with bright colours and gave toys that children admitted at the ward can play with.

Apurba Ghosh, the director of the institute, said the well designed and colourful cancer ward would instill a positive feeling in children.

“We have received a high-end ventilator, a baby warmer and a C-pap machine. This will help us in giving better care to the children,” Ghosh said.
