Kolkata Metro Railway has earned Rs 295.56 lakh from scrap sales in just four months.
“Metro Railway has registered remarkable improvement in scrap sale from April to July, 2022… 475 per cent higher than last fiscal,” a Metro Railway press release said.
Metro had earned Rs 51.41 lakh from scrap sales during the same period in 2021.
Kolkata Metro is committed to making itself a scrap-free zone, the press release added.
Scrap sales are conducted through e-auctioning to maintain transparency.
Metro Railway administration makes an all-out effort to mobilise scrap materials and sell through e-auctioning to maintain transparency, probity and clarity over the whole process, the Carrier said.
In the last few months, Kolkata Metro has focused on non-fare revenue.
Several Metro stations have been rebranded to generate more revenue from advertising.
Some of these rebranded stations include IIHM Park Street Metro, Senco Gold & Diamonds Karunamoyee and Theism Belgachia.
