P Uday Kumar Reddy, general manager, Metro Railway inspected the Bowbazar site where disasters have hampered the progress of Metro work of East-West Metro on May 3.
Reddy held a discussion at the site with the officials of Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (KMRCL) and he was briefed about the accidents at this site and the steps taken to overcome the setback.
Later, he undertook an inspection inside the tunnel where 24 meter tunneling work out of 38 meter have been completed with cut and cover method. He also studied the drawing details of the project.
According to the KMRC stated that Reddy has appreciated the progress of the work after the disasters and instructed all concerned to take all possible steps to make east-bound tunnel between Sealdah and Esplanade ready for rake movement by coming December so that services on Howrah Maidan-Esplanade stretch can be started.
After completing the inspection, Reddy went to Bimanbandar Metro station to see the progress of the work. He inspected the underground yard, subway, different passenger amenities etc at this station. He has instructed the concerned officials to finish the remaining work within the stipulated deadline.
During this inspection H.N Jaiswal, principal chief engineer, Metro Railway and managing director, KMRC as well as other senior officials of Metro Railway accompanied him.
