Main thoroughfares like Syed Amir Ali Avenue which remain chock-a-block with school and office traffic in the morning rush hours were mostly deserted due to Trinamool Congress’ annual Martyrs’ Day rally and meeting. Many schools decided to keep their institutions closed on Friday to spare students the hassle of commuting on a rally day. The ones which kept open saw thin attendance.
