The husband of a television actress was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly duping a job seeker of Rs 1.4 lakh by promising him a high-paying job in an IT firm, police said.
Sohail Saha was arrested from Khardah by a team from the cyber crime police station in Salt Lake on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim, an officer of the Bidhannagar commissionerate said.
According to the officer, Saha had met the victim a few months back and claimed that he could help him get a good job in a New Town-based IT firm.
“Saha had allegedly demanded Rs 1.4 lakh to get him the job. After the payment was made, he snapped all ties with the victim,” said the officer.
“A few days after the payment, the victim lodged a complaint with the cyber crime police station,” said the officer.
Saha has been remanded in police custody for 5 days.
Found hanging in Behala building
A 49-year-old a resident of Kaliprasanna Chatterjee Lane in southwest Kolkata’s Behala, was found hanging from the ceiling in his room on the second floor of a four-storey building late on Tuesday, police said.
Subhashis Gupta was taken to Vidyasagar State General Hospital where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
