Major ports cricket championship begins in Kolkata

Samrat Rahi, deputy chairman, Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port (SMP), Kolkata, inaugurated the 41st All India Major Ports Cricket Championship 2022-23 at Rangers and YMCA grounds on Monday.

SMP, Kolkata and Major Ports Sports Control Board are organising the tournament, which will continue till December 9.Teams from all major ports namely Mumbai Port, Chennai Port, New Mangalore Port, Deendayal Port, Mormugao Port, Paradip Port, Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Visakhapatnam Port, V.O. Chidambaranar Port & Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port will take part in the tournament.

On the occasion, Rahi extended his gratitude towards the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for its cooperation in organising the event.

AK Mahapatra, president, Calcutta Port Trust Sports Club and general manager (Traffic) Haldia Dock Complex, head of the departments, senior officers and employees of SMP, Kolkata, were also present at the inaugural programme.

Koushik Mukherjee, general secretary, Calcutta Port Trust Sports Club, will coordinate the event.

P.L. Haranadh, chairperson, SMP, Kolkata, gave the vote of thanks expressing gratitude to all the members of the teams of this tournament, officers and employees of SMP, Kolkata, for actively participating in this event.
