The last weekday of the year saw leading players in the Sector V electronic complex come together on the mini stage at the pedestrian plaza.
Standing shoulder to shoulder, they took a pledge administered by Naba Diganta Industral Township Authority chairman Debashis Sen to work for a sustainable future.
Sen also asked each of them to share what they were doing to ensure sustainable development at their workplace.
“We are using only glass bottles, in place of plastic. We have reduced air travel, relying more on technology to communicate. And we are supporting organic farming as part of our CSR activities,” said Kaushik Mukherjee of PricewaterhousCoopers.
Somes Das Gupta of India Power spoke of plans to produce 70 per cent power from green sources. He urged all individuals to share the waste generated at home or in
office with biomethanation plants.
Everyone present, on and off the stage, lit a candle as they took the pledge.
Other officials of local firms who were present included Ambarish Dasgupta of Intueri, Manjit Nayek of STPI, Sanjay Das of Webel, Kamalini Paul of Serra, Gargi Basu Sarkar of ICICI and Jayden Mukherjee SnapE.
