Classic Drivers Club along with The Calcutta Club celebrated World Heritage Week (November 19-25) with Heritage Vehicle Show, a display of vintage wheels on the club premises on Sunday. A bevy of 25 beauties, 22 cars and three two-wheelers, parked on the club lawns drew admiration and awe in equal measure, as visitors poured in to have a dekko on a November morning.
“On the occasion of World Heritage Week, we decided to show off the city’s heritage wealth of wheels parking landmark cars from each decade starting from 1910. We unfortunately do not have any pre-1910 vehicle in the city,” said Pradeep Gooptu of Classic Drivers Club.
So the oldest car on display was a 1913 Stoewer owned by Ananda Chowdhury. It is a typical Edwardian high-wheeled German car, said Gooptu. A 1924 Studebaker owned by the Kashimbajar Raja family was a typical American limo on display of the 1920s.
