Calcutta University U defers semester exams for rural polls
Calcutta University has deferred the sixth-semester exams (theoretical papers) of BA and BSc (honours), and BA and BSc (general) to the middle of July because of the panchayat polls, which will be held on July 8. The practical exams of BSc (honours) have been deferred, too.
2 senior citizens killed in elephant attacks
Two septuagenarians died in elephant attacks in Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts early on Tuesday, police said. In Darjeeling district, Krishna Bahadur Chhetri, 76, who had stepped out of his home for a morning walk, came in front of a wild elephant which trampled him to death, the police said.
