Job fraud cuffs
A man in his 30s who had gone to Vidyut Bhavan, the headquarters of the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited, with a job appointment letter was arrested after officials realised the letter was fake and called police. Sourav Roy, 32, allegedly said he had received an appointment letter by registered post, an officer said. “Initially, we thought he was a victim of a job racket, but during questioning we realised he himself printed the letter,” the officer said.
Another cannon
A large iron object resembling a cannon is being excavated from the banks of the Hooghly near the Cossipore ferry ghat in the North Port police station area. The object is being excavated under the supervision of the administrator general of Bengal, Biplab Roy and his team.
