Online class, early closure for July 21

Several schools have decided to switch to online classes or shut down early on Friday because of the expected traffic disruption for the Trinamul Congress Martyrs Day rally at Esplanade. Loreto House, South Point and Indus Valley World School will conduct online classes on Friday. The La Martiniere schools and Sushila Birla Girls School will end classes earlier than usual.

Shuffle in train services

Several local trains will be cancelled and at least 14 express trains diverted or controlled in the Howrah division for over a month from Thursday following a traffic and power block in the Bandel-Shaktigarh section for the construction of a road over-bridge near Hooghly s Adisaptagram. Railway officials said the block will be taken from Thursday till August 24. The cancellation of multiple local trains connecting Bandel and Burdwan with Howrah on alternate days will create trouble for daily commuters.

The Howrah-Azimganj and Azimganj Howrah Kaviguru Express will be cancelled on various days. Long-distance trains like Howrah-Mokama Express and Sealdah-Malda Gour Express will be diverted.
