Joka-Taratala Metro

The Joka-Taratala Metro section on Tuesday received a nod to run more than one train at a time. In the absence of an advance signalling system, the section sees only one train completing one leg of the journey and then coming back. “Janak Kumar Garg, chief commissioner of railway safety, has approved the commissioning of the electronic interlocking-based signalling system as the initial stage of a communications-based train control signalling system on Up and Down lines between Joka and Majerhat station of the Purple Line. His approval letter, dated January 16, reached Metro Rail Bhavan on Tuesday,” said a Metro official. “This approval will enhance flexibility in train operations and the number of services can be increased on the stretch if the situation demands.”
