CU meeting
Calcutta University held its syndicate meeting on Tuesday though the higher education department had on Sunday asked it not to hold the meeting of its highest decision-making body because it does not have a regular vice-chancellor. Trinamul Chhatra Parishad members held a protest outside the syndicate room against the university s decision to defy the state government s order. Many pending administrative decisions were approved at the meeting, held after two months, said a CU official
Metro inspection
The chief commissioner of railway safety, Janak Kumar Garg, inspected all the stations from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade of the East-West Metro corridor for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. He travelled in a Metro rake from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade stations. "At Howrah station, he inspected passenger interchanging points as this station is going to be a junction station," said a Metro official.
