CU meeting

Calcutta University has deferred its syndicate meeting scheduled on November 7 following an order from the higher education department. The department in an order addressed to the CU registrar last week said as the university does not have a full-term vice-chancellor, holding any meeting would violate a rule that the department enacted in December 2019. A CU teacher who was handpicked by Governor CV Ananda Bose is performing the duties of VC since early June. An identical order has been issued to Jadavpur University as well.

IIHM signs MoU

Calcutta-based International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Thurderbird School of Global Management and the Arizona State University (ASU) that will give IIHM students opportunities for training in global leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship. The 180-hour online course is free of cost for the IIHM students. "We have enrolled 3,000 of our students for the foundational course of which about 30 per cent are girls. Students will get a US certification from a top university and it will give them a leap forward when they go to the US for internship or work. The course is very intense," said Suborno Bose, chairman and chief mentor, IIHM.
