Convention

A platform of university teachers and former vice-chancellors of state-aided universities in Bengal will organise a national convention on “Higher Education: Crisis and Challenges” on August 2. The convention will focus on the issue of parallel administration unleashed in higher education by the governor in his capacity as chancellor of state universities.

They said the chancellor, by appointing a retired chief justice and a retired police officer as officiating VCs, has “jeopardised the credibility of the university management”. The convention will be held at the University Institute Hall in central Kolkata.
