Summons to SSC ex-head
Justice Biswajit Basu of Calcutta High Court on Monday issued a summons to former school service commission chairman Soumitra Sarkar to clarify on January 24 on what grounds he had appointed a woman as a teacher in 2019 though her name was not on any valid merit list. A panel of candidates was scrapped in 2015 following an order of the court. But Sarkar, the then chairman of the SSC, had allegedly given appointment to the candidate whose name was on the scrapped panel. The judge had formed a special investigation team for this case which submitted its report on Monday.
