EM Bypass traffic trial
Police have begun a traffic trial at the Metropolitan crossing on EM Bypass to understand the possible impact on the flow of vehicles once the place is handed over to RVNL for Metro construction work. Two piers will be constructed at the Metropolitan intersection for the proposed Beleghata station of the New Garia-airport Metro corridor.
The trial’s aim is to understand the challenges the police will face in managing traffic once parts of the intersection are cordoned off for the construction of the piers, officers said. Officials of RVNL had met police commissioner Vineet Goyal recently seeking a nod to start construction. "The traffic trial will continue through the week," a senior police officer said.
Ramakrishna Mission event
Ramakrishna Math Yogodyan will observe the 138th Nitya Abirvab Utsava of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa on September 7, Math officials said. On August 23, 1886, some relics of Sri Ramakrishna was interred at the Yogodyan Math. A series of cultural events have been planned for September 7 to commemorate the event at the Math, the officials said
