Trains for panchayat polls

Special trains will ply on the Sealdah South section on Saturday and Sunday for personnel to be deployed for the July 8 panchayat elections, said an official of Eastern Railway. The trains will run from Diamond Harbour, Canning and Namkhana to Sealdah. One train will leave Diamond Harbour at 1am on Sunday and reach Sealdah at 2.27am.

Another will leave Canning at 1am on Sunday and reach Sealdah at 2.05am. A third will leave Namkhana at 11.45pm on Saturday and reach Sealdah at 2.20am on Sunday. "The trains will stop at all stations en route. Even though the trains are meant to facilitate polling staff, normal passengers can also travel," said a railway official.

AI, data science training

The state higher secondary council will arrange a training programme for those who will teach data science and artificial intelligence (AI) at the higher secondary level in government-aided schools, in collaboration with Jadavpur University, said a council official. The training for the first batch will be held in July-August.

The teachers will be trained by subject experts in the computer science and engineering department of Jadavpur University. The teachers will be introduced to these subjects, their syllabi and question patterns, the official said. A notice issued in April by the council said: "The council is going to introduce two subjects at the Class XI-XII level data science and artificial intelligence from the 2023-24 academic session…."
