Kolkata Traffic Police have posted a list of programmes that might affect the city traffic on Thursday (18.1.2024)

  • 12 noon: Procession from Sealdah Smart Baazar to Y-Road, Esplanade, via Sealdah flyover, Moulali crossing, SN Banerjee Road, Dorina crossing
  • 1pm: A meeting at 1 Hogg Street beside Kolkata Municipal Corporation head office
    ***12 noon: Procession from the front of Sealdah railway station and move to Sealdah flyover-AJC Bose Road- Moulali crossing-SN Banerjee Road and finally converge at main programme at Hogg Street

Metro for Book Fair

Metro Railway will run additional trains on the east-west corridor (Green Line) from January 18 to 31 for people headed for the Book Fair. Karunamoyee is the nearest Metro station from the fair venue. From Monday to Saturday, there will be 120 trains (60 on either side), instead of the usual 106. The first train will leave Sealdah at 6.55am and Salt Lake Sector V at 7am. The last train will leave Sealdah at 9.35pm and Salt Lake Sector V at 9.40pm. On Sundays (January 21 and 28), there will be 80 services (40 on either side). The first train will leave Sealdah at 12.55pm and Salt Lake Sector V at 1pm. The last train will leave Sealdah at 9.35pm and Sector V at 9.40pm.

Pumping station

The foundation stone for a semi-underground reservoir-cum-booster pumping station was laid in Kasba’s Johurabazaar by mayor Firhad Hakim on Wednesday. The 22-lakh-litre reservoir, which will supply treated surface water to parts of Ward 91, will take about 18 months to build.

New flight to Ayodhya

Air India Express on Wednesday launched a non-stop flight connecting Ayodhya with Kolkata. The flights will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
