Night parking
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has granted night parking approval to over 400 cars, each of whose owners paid Rs 600 per month in the last year, Debashis Kumar, mayoral council member in charge of parking, said at the civic house on Saturday. Kumar said the KMC was now conducting raids to identify cars parked on roads primarily in areas where many buildings have car parking spaces.
Jyotirlinga Yatra
Eastern India’s first Bharat Gaurav tourist circuit train left Kolkata (Chitpore) station on Saturday. The train, which embarked on a 12-day tour of several Hindu pilgrimages in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, was flagged off by the general manager of Eastern Railway, Amar Prakash Dwivedi, at 1pm. It is scheduled to return on May 31. The theme is Jyotirlinga Yatra. The journey will cover shrines like Omkareshwar, Mahakaleshwar, Somnath, Dwarka and Shirdi.
