No rain but likely to be windy
Kolkata is likely to be windy on Sunday, when the storm is likely to hit the Bangladesh-Myanmar coastline.
Rain eluded Kolkata on Saturday as well, despite a consistent cloud cover that was thicker than on Friday. The clouds that brought the temperature down came riding on easterly winds from the edge of Cyclone Mocha, which on Saturday was an “extremely severe cyclonic storm” on Bay of Bengal.
“As the system nears land, the winds will come to Kolkata via northeastern India. The moisture content will be lower than that in easterly winds that come directly from the sea. So, there is only a slender chance of rain in Kolkata on Sunday,” said a Met official.
