Howrah to Puri Vande Bharat run
The commercial operation of the Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express train will start on Saturday. The train will leave Howrah at 6.10pm and reach Puri at 12.35pm. The train will leave Puri at 1.50pm and reach Howrah at 8.30pm.
The train’s inaugural run from Puri was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through video conferencing on Thursday. Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw travelled on the train.
Drizzle brings relief
A spell of winds and lightning, followed by drizzles, brought temporary relief from sultry conditions on Friday. But the gusts lacked intensity. “The core clouds from the west skipped Kolkata,” said a Met official. Thunderstorms are not ruled out in the next few days, he said.
Bansdroni minors rescued
Two minor sisters were reported missing from Bansdroni on Friday. Hours later, the family received a text from the older child’s phone demanding Rs 1 crore. Police traced the phone’s location to Krishnagar, Nadia, and rescued them.
