Jadavpur University impasse
The President’s secretariat has written to the state chief secretary seeking details of the action taken following the removal of the officiating vice-chancellor of Jadavpur University by the Bengal governor, said an official in the higher education department. The JU chapter of the All Bengal University Teachers Association had written to President Droupadi Murmu to draw her attention to the impasse at JU since the removal of the VC by the governor and the government s orders that he continue.
Fake candidate
A young man who appeared for the physical examination for recruitment of constables by Kolkata police at the BT Lines on Friday was handed to police after his fingerprint did not match with that of the candidate with the same name who had appeared for the written test. The police suspect a dummy candidate had been hired for the written test. The man who was arrested has been identified as Shubham Yadav from Bihar. A case of impersonation has been registered at Cossipore police station.
