Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee ‘alert’
Former chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, 79, "is alert and is responding to doctors and visitors", the Woodlands Hospital said in a statement on Friday evening. He was being fed through a Ryles tube and was on "intermittent non-invasive ventilatory support". Bhattacharjee was admitted to the hospital on July 29 with a lower respiratory tract infection and Type II respiratory failure.
