Nirmala Mishra dies
Singer Nirma la Mishra passed away in Calcutta on Sunday. She was 81. Mishra sang several ageless Bengali songs over the years. Emon ekti jhinuk khunje pelam na is among them. She had suffered a heart attack on Saturday. Mishra's body was taken to Rabindra Sadan on Sunday morning where many people paid the departed singer their last respects. Her body was later cremated at the Keoratala crematorium. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her condolences. Mamata mentioned that Mishra had been awarded the Sangeetsamman in 2012, the Sangeetmahasamman and the Banga bishuman in 2013 by the Bengal government.
