Kolkata receives light rain

Intermittent light rain was experienced in Kolkata and its suburbs throughout the day on Sunday, as the MeT Department forecast similar weather on Monday.

The eastern metropolis received 10.1mm of rainfall in 24 hours till 5.30pm on Sunday, the MeT Department said.

The weatherman forecast cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain on Monday, as drizzles throughout the day on Sunday making the holiday enjoyable after days of hot and humid weather.

Kolkata Traffic Police have posted a list of programmes that might affect the city traffic on Monday (25.7.2022).

  • At any convenient time: Demonstrations may be organised at Moulali crossing, Behala Chowrasta, Jadavpur 8B bus stand or any other places within Kolkata police jurisdiction
  • 12pm: Short rally/demonstration may be organised at different places throughout Kolkata (in front of Jadavpur University, Presidency University, University of Calcutta- College Street campus, Golpark, Gariahat crossing, Hazra crossing, Shyambazar five-point crossing etc.)
  • 12pm: Demonstration may be organised at Hazra crossing
  • 1pm: A rally from College Street Bata shop towards College Street and Mahatma Gandhi Road crossing
  • 3pm: A rally from Presidency University campus, 86/1, College Street. The procession may move in and around the vicinity
  • 3pm: Calcutta Football League (CFL) 1st division football match will be held at Rabindra Sarobar Stadium
  • 4pm: A rally from University of Calcutta campus, 87/1, College Street, Kolkata. The procession may move in and around the vicinity of University of Calcutta
  • 4pm: A programme at Nazrul Mancha
  • 5pm: A rally/procession from Raja Subodh Mullick Square, Kolkata (covering Bowbazar police station and Muchipara police station areas) and which may avail Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, Nirmal Chandra Street and College Street
  • 5.30pm: A protest may be organised in front of the main gate of Presidency University, 86/1, College Street
