Fewer Metro trains today

Metro Railway will run 234 services on the north-south corridor on Monday, a public holiday for Gandhi Jayanti, instead of the usual weekday number of 288. The first and last New Garia-bound trains will leave Dakshineswar at 7am and 9.28pm, respectively, the carrier said. The first and last New Garia-bound trains will leave Dum Dum at 6.50am and 9.40pm, respectively. The first and last Dakshineswar-bound trains will leave New Garia at 6.50am and 9.30pm, respectively. The last train from New Garia (for Dum Dum) will leave at 9.40pm.

On the east-west corridor, now functional between Sector V and Sealdah, there will be 920 trains instead of 106. The first and last trains will leave Sealdah at 6.55am and 9.35pm, respectively. The first and last trains will leave Sector V at 7am and 9.40pm, respectively. There will be no trains on the Joka-Taratala stretch, said an official.
