IIEST chief
The Union education ministry has asked Parthasarathi Chakrabarti to continue as officiating director of IIEST Shibpur as the ministry is yet to finalise the name of the next full-term director, said an IIEST official.
Councillor Ram Pyare Ram dead
Ram Pyare Ram, a mayoral council member of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, who has been a councillor for decades, passed away at a city hospital on Sunday. Ram was suffering from old age-related ailments. His body will be taken to the KMC headquarters at 4pm on Monday for councillors and others to pay their last respects. Ram, also a former MLA, was heartbroken after his son passed away in an accident last year.
