State gives Rs 2.85cr to Jadavpur University for upgrade
The state government has allotted close to Rs 2.85 crore to Jadvapur University for procuring and installing a firewall, upgrading IT infrastructure, repairing and painting external walls of the food and technology and biochemical engineering departments.
A university official said funds on this scale under capital grants, which are intended to build assets, were sanctioned after a gap of over five years.
Trafficked girls rescued from Kasba hotel
Two 17-year-old girls, who were allegedly trafficked, were rescued from a hotel in Kasba on Wednesday night, police said. Three persons have been arrested in this connection.
2 students injured in accidents
Two school students were injured in road accidents in the city on Thursday. One of them, a five-yearold student of a school on James Long Sarani, was hit by an app cab on Sarat Bose Road. The other is a 14-year-old student who was hit by a motorcycle on MG Road.
